In medieval times, when the king had children with his mistress, did they receive titles, or land. . . ?

or were they just considered fatherless, and treated as peasants? I can't find any info on the internet. Perhaps I don't know where to look. I need this info for a research report in my college history cl. Thank you to all who answer with seriousness.
